RECOMMENDED TAROT CARD DECKS AND BOOKS
DECKS-
The Tarotologist of the 21st century is fortunate to have so many magnificent Tarot decks at his/her disposal. Here are my favorites:
The Connolly Deck: This wonderful deck is the result of a unique collaboration. It was created by Eileen Connolly and illustrated by her son, Peter Paul Connolly. I use the Connolly deck for The Aura Spread because the colors are so vibrant and moving.
The Morgan-Greer Deck: This is definitely my favorite deck. I use it for all my basic spreads. The traditional representations are bright, bold and easy to interpret. It was created by Lloyd Morgan with Bill Greer, illustrator.
The Mythic Tarot Deck: This is my deck of choice for karmic readings. The major Arcana cards are full of archetypes and symbolism which evoke primal memories of our universal consciousness in the spirit of Campbell and Jung. The Mythic Tarot was created by Juliet Sharman-Burke and Liz Greene. The illustrations are by Tricia Newell.
The Universal Waite Deck: This is the beloved deck created by Arthur Edward Waite. Mary Hanson-Roberts has added a palette of lovely colors to Pamela Coleman Smith's original illustrations. The esoteric images are finely detailed and incredibly beautiful. This is the perfect deck for the beginner.
BOOKS-
I've read dozens and dozens of Tarot books. These are my top 3 picks:
The Encyclopedia of Tarot by Stuart R. Kaplan: No one knows more about the origin and history of Tarot cards than Mr. Kaplan. The complete collection includes 3 volumes and makes an ideal addition to anyone's coffee table.
The Mythic Tarot by Juliet Sharman-Burke and Liz Greene: This book is the perfect companion to their deck. I have worn my copy ragged.
Tarot - A New Handbook for the Apprentice by Eileen Connolly: What can I say about Eileen Connolly? She is the very best. I've learned more from her than everyone else put together.
